obliteration of the cul de sac. This represents stage IV endometriosis,
although it doesn't look like it because the rectum is adherent to the posterior
cervix, completely obscuring the bottom of the pelvis. This indicates invasive
disease of the floor of the pelvis, including the uterosacral ligaments, posterior cervix, cul de sac, and usually the wall of the bowel itself. Many surgeons would call this a normal pelvis. |
